I) from second equation of motion, s = ut + 1/2 at2.

The equation can be re-written as:

H = ut + 1/2 gt2 [because the ball is falling with gravity]

U = 0

H = 1/2 gt2

g = 10 m/s2

t = 5 seconds

H = 1/2 (10)(5)2

= 125 m

 

Ii) from third equation of motion, v2 = u2 + 2as.

The above equation can be written as:

V2 = u2 + 2gH [because the ballnisbfalling with gravity]

U = 0

V2 = 2(10)(125)

V= 2500

V = 50 m/s
