20 February 2021 0 (y+1)/2 - (2y - 1)/3 = 4

Find the LCM of the denominator.

LCM of 2 and 3 is 6

multiply through by 6

6(y + 1)/2 - 6(2y - 1)/3 = 24

3(y + 1) - 2(2y - 1) = 24

3y + 3 - 4y + 2 = 24

3y - 4y + 3 + 2 = 24

-y + 5 = 24

Subtract 5 from both sides

-y = 24 - 5

-y =  19

Multiply both sides by -1

y = -19
